Abstract
953,361. Thermal switches. TEDDINGTON AUTOCONTROLS Ltd. Dec. 13, 1961 [Jan. 10' 1961], No. 1014/61. Heading H2B. [Also in Divisions G1 and H5] An electric hotplate, or surface heater, is provided with a reflector member 1 located beneath a heating element 2 to reflect heat on to a temperature-sensitive capsule 3, or on to a heat conducting extension member 4, the capsule 3 being located, as shown, to be in contact with a cooking vessel. Alternatively, the reflector member 1 is omitted and a drip-pan 5 is adapted to act as a reflector. The capsule 3 is connected by a capillary tube 6 to a switch (not shown) controlling the element 2. The reflector member 1, or the extension member 4, may be made adjustable such that the amount of heat reflected on to the capsule 3, or the member 4, can be varied. Alternatively, an adjustable shielding member (not shown) is placed between the element 2 and the member 1, or between the member 1 and the capsule 3.
