969,096. Surface heaters. BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO. Ltd. July 1, 1963 [July 10, 1962], No. 26461/62. Heading F4W. [Also in Division G1] A thermostatic control for a gas or electric cooking appliance comprises a capsule 1 mounted in a radially offset position from the centre of a circular burner 3 or hot-plate, and a cylindrical heat shield 6 to limit radiant and conducted heat from the burner or heating element. The capsule 1 shown is mounted on a lower radial member (not shown) projecting from the centre of the burner 3, and may be connected to a thermostatic valve by a capillary tube. The heat shield 6 may be formed integrally with an upper radial member 5. The burner discharge ports are arranged to direct the flames away from the capsule 1 and shield 6.
