953,349. Pipes and pipe joints. W. R. C. GOSSIAUX. July 14, 1960 [July 15, 1959; Dec. 4, 1959 ; April 19, 1960], No. 24560/60. Headings F2G and F2P. High-pressure feed pipes for internal-combustion engine fuel injection systems comprise an inner tube 16 of polyoxide material (e.g. Nylon) sheathed by an outer tube 7 of metal. The pipes are connected to the injectors and to the pump by stuffing-box connectors 8, Fig. 5, in which a deformable packing, e.g. of Nylon, is compressed by a screwed connector 8. The end of the outer tube 7 may be flared to avoid axial withdrawal of the tube and a reinforcing ring 14 may be secured in the flared portion. In Fig. 6 the ring 14 is of double frusto-conical shape and the end of the sheath 7 is bent inwards over it.
