Abstract
952,375. Welded building structures. G. J. POMILIO. July 3, 1961, No. 23887/61. Heading E1V. Buildings, bridges and like structures are assembled from prefabricated non-metallic, e.g. concrete beams or plates having flat outside surfaces with metal surface members having their outside surfaces lying in the same plane as the outside surfaces of the beams or plates, said metal surface members abutting against one another and being joined by welded connections. The trussed girder of Fig. 10 is comprised by an upper chord 14 formed from beams welded end-to-end and side-by-side, and a lower chord 15 formed from beams connected end-to-end, each of these beams having flush, sheet metal straps 2 and end caps 3 by means of which the welded connections are made. The stays 16, 17 also have end caps 3 by means of which they are welded to the chords 14, 15. In Fig. 12, a ceiling or floor slab 29 has a flush metallic surface member 19 which is welded to a flush metallic strap 2 on the beam 30. The metal surface members may be constituted by reinforcement members exposed along part or whole of the surfaces of the beams or plates. A junction plate 12, Fig. 9, may be welded across the abutting metal surface members. Several other arrangements of beams and plates are described and illustrated.
