Abstract

951,262. Casting-machines. GRIFFIN WHEEL CO. Nov. 15, 1960 [Nov. 15, 1959], No. 39229/60. Heading B3F. [Also in Division F4] A pressure-pouring apparatus comprises a ladle rotatable about a horizontal axis. Pressure gas is supplied through a port 64 via a pipe passing through one of the trunnions 6. The refractory lining 10 is gas-permeable so that pressure against it is equalized. Circumferential and longitudinal channels may be provided in the radially outer surface of the lining to assist this equalization. The metal jacket of the pouring tube 14 has vents 36 through which gas passing through the permeable lining 10 into the lining 34 may escape to prevent it being entrained in the melt. 50 is a drain hole.
