Abstract
951,143. Railway vehicle automatic couplers. AMSTED INDUSTRIES Inc. May 8, 1961 [May 20, 1960] No. 16685/61. Heading B7T. A pivoted knuckle coupler which may mate with similar knuckle couplers, Fig. 1, is provided with a guard arm 12 extending the full height of the throat 22, a shelf 26 which may afford vertical support for the knuckle of the mating coupler so as to provide vertical interlock, and a notch 32 in the shelf to accommodate the lug 40, Fig. 2, of an A.A.R. standard F- type coupler when the present coupler is required to mate with an F-type.
