950,722. Rocket motors. BRISTOL AEROJET Ltd. May 30, 1960 [Feb. 28, 1959], No. 3234/59. Heading F3A. A control device for a rocket motor incorporates duets 16 in the casing 10 communicating with an annular chamber 14 within a sleeve 13, and a flanged band 21 which initially holds the sleeve until ruptured by a charge 20, ignited by means (not shown) at a predetermined missile speed, whereupon the motor gas pressure moves the sleeve along the casing to open at least two vents 12. In a modification, in the Figure (not shown) accompanying the Complete Specification the rocket motor has a cylindrical combustion chamber on which the slidable sleeve is held by shear pins fracturing when a predetermined pressure is exceeded. Rearward movement of the sleeve is checked by a lead shock-absorbing ring.
