Abstract
915,058. Self-propelled rifle-grenades; smallarms. ANSTALT FUR DIE ENTWICKLUNG VON ERFINDUNGEN UND GEWERBLICHEN ANWENDUNGEN ENERGA. Oct. 28, 1960 [Nov. 27, 1959], No. 37203/60. Classes 9 (1), 9 (2) and 119. A self-propelled rifle-grenade having a propellent charge 2 within a reservoir 1 and a Venturi-nozzle 3 (as described in Specification 910,017) is provided with an obturator 10 of thermoplastics material adapted to be placed in both the nozzle 3 and the specially shaped muzzle of a firing sleeve 6 to prevent detonation of the propellent charge by the gases from the rifle cartridge. In use the obturator is pushed into the specially shaped firing sleeve 6 so that an annular projection 15 is held by a collar 8 and shoulder 12a abuts the end of the sleeve. The grenade is then placed on the sleeve and on firing the rifle cartridge, central plug 11 of the obturator is driven into the Venturi-nozzle 3, thereby sealing the passage to the propellent charge.
