Abstract

950,487. Pipe joints. W. SCHNEIDER & CO. June 27, 1960 [June 25, 1959], No. 22427/60. Heading F2G. In a joint for tubular elements 1, e.g. of glass or synthetic materials, which widen in a frustrum shape towards the joint, elastic annular bodies 3 bear against the frustra and are embraced by two loose annular flanges 4, held together by collars 7 and clamps 6. The elastic bodies 3 may be closed coil springs, rubber rings or of a synthetic material having a slidable surface. The loose flanges and clamps can be of light metal made by stamping or deep drawing or synthetic material or a combination of both. The clamps may be interconnected by a pretensioned spring 8 to assist assembly. In modifications, the bolts 6 may be of the thumbscrew type and the inner side of the flanges may be formed with an annular groove to locate the elastic annular body.
