In an axial-piston motor or pump having a tiltable cylinder carrier 4 connected to a rotating drive flange 1, and individual cylinders 6 connected through hollow pistons 9 to ports in drive flange 1, the ball 8 at the end of each piston is mounted in a two-part bearing 10, 11 carried in a cylindrical recess in the drive flange 1 and held in position by a ported control surface-forming plate 12 removably attached to flange 1 by screws 13. Bearing 10, 11 may be of bronze alloy and control plate 12 of heattreated steel.
