Abstract

949,881. Discharging sheets from piles. WEYBRIDGE MACHINE TOOL CO. Ltd. April 24, 1962 [Oct. 12, 1961], No. 36696/61. Heading B8S. A pile of metal sheets mounted on table 1 are discharged one by one from the top thereof by fingers 23 which push the top sheet to the right through rollers 31 on to rollerway 33. Fingers 23 are carried by sliders 12 which are reciprocated by crank 16 driven from motor 20. The sliders and motor are carried by carriage 10 running on wheels 11. The inventive step lies in the provision of magnetic floaters 24 so positioned as to cause the separation by repulsion of the two topmost metal sheets of the pile to assist the fingers 23 to make good engagement with the topmost sheet of the two. As the sheets are discharged from the top of the pile the table 1 is raised by ram 2 to maintain the level of the sheets. The pile of sheets is run on to table 1 by means of pallet 6 the wheels 7 of which run on to the rails 8 of table 1 and are clamped thereto by catch 9. Switches 25 and 26 control the height of table 1 and a switch 32 operates to stop the discharge of sheets whenever two sheets are discharged together.
