Abstract

949,865. Machine tool details. BEAVER TOOL & ENGINEERING CORPORATION. Feb. 15, 1961, No. 5555/61. Heading B3B. A holder for a tool or for a tool-holder comprises a locking member 22 having an inner portion 28 to engage a recess 32 in a tool shank 17, the locking member being threaded to engage a bore opening into a socket for the tool. The double-start thread has an angle of not more than 7 degrees. A shoulder 30 on the locking member 22 assists in disengaging the tool. The tool has a cylindrical shank 17 and a slotted collar 37 to engage a driving dog 36. The end 38 of the member 22 also forms a driving dog. In a modification, movement of the threaded member 52, Fig. 3, is limited by a pin 61. The tool shank is also engaged by a key 64 which is retained by a screw 66 which is retained by a screw 66 which also secures a driving dog 67. A diametrically-opposite driving dog is also provided. In a further modification, the locking member has two threaded parts 78, 92, Fig. 7, the latter being rotated to clamp and unclamp the tool. Each of the holders may have only one driving dog.
