Abstract
949,810. Protective arrangements. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 8, 1962 [Dec. 14, 1961], No. 44859/61. Heading H2K. A protective arrangement for removing the output voltage from a power pack on the occurrence of a fault in a utilization circuit, comprises a normally-conducting controlled rectifier CR1, a capacitor C2 normally charged through a resistor R and-a further controlled rectifier CR2 which is rendered conducting when a fault occurs to connect the capacitor across the rectifier CR1 and so apply an inverse voltage across the rectifier CR1 to render it non-conducting. The choke L of the smoothing circuit L, C1 of the power pack is connected between the controlled rectifier CR1 and the utilization circuit so that the reactance of the choke prevents any substantial increase in the voltage at the negative terminal t2 of the power pack when the capacitor discharges.
