949,378. Evaporating liquids. HEINRICH KOPPERS G.m.b.H. April 20, 1960 [May 26, 1959], No. 13852/60. Heading B1B. In a process of heating a liquid-gas mixture while it is rising through the vertical tubes of a heat-exchanger, wherein heating-medium is guided down the outside of the tubes, backflow of liquid in the tubes is obviated by one or more of the following expedients: (a) disposing Raschig rings in the tubes, (b) employing tubes with constrictions 10, Fig. 2, along their length, (c) employing tubes with an internal diameter of less than 10 mm., (d) distributing the gas in the liquid in the form of very fine bubbles at the bottom of the tubes, either by using a rotating gas-distributer 14, Fig. 3, or by providing slits 18, Fig. 4, at the bottom of each tube. The desulphurization of petroleum products with hydrogen is referred to ; also the catalytic refining of benzene and the aromatization of gasoline fractions.
