Abstract
296,301. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Aug. 27, 1927, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Purifying liquids.-Liquid mixtures are separated into their constituents by passage through or treatment with one or more adsorbent materials having a large superficial area, such as silica gel. According to an example, a mixture of 84 per cent of carbon tetrachloride and 16 per cent of ethyl alcohol is allowed to trickle through a 40 cm-thick layer of microporous silica gel. The issuing liquid is at first 100 per cent of carbon tetrachloride; regeneration of the gel yields fractions containing up to 91 per cent of alcohol.
