[Also in Division F2] A bearing assembly for a shaft 1 of a winding- drum 2 &c. is removed and replaced axially from said shaft in order to allow a finishedwound drum to be taken off the shaft and an empty drum to be placed thereon. A guide-bush 10 of the assembly is engageable with the shaft 1, supports roller bearings 11, and is bolted to a member 4 which is movable in a housing 3. A rod 8, of a piston 6, is attached to the assembly so that the piston can be moved to cause mounting or dismounting of the assembly with the shaft 1. The piston 6, which is in a cylinder 5, may be fluid-operated, the fluid being passed through openings 7. The housing 3 is carried by an arm 12 which is pivoted at 13 and is moved pivotally by a piston-cylinder apparatus 1 so that the shaft 1 is easily accessible for drum interchanging. The axial and pivotal movements of the assembly may be effected electrically.
