A swivel arm for receiving continuously cast rods 6 and lowering them into the horizontal position on to a conveyer 14, is pivotally mounted on a supporting member 3 which is displaceable horizontally, preferably by means of a cylinder 12, so that rods 6 may be received at spaced casting positions I, II. The rods are clamped to the swivel arm by members 5 actuated by pistons 13.
