Abstract

The mechanism is intended for holding reels of paper for supply to a paper handling machine. The mechanism has at least two reel holders which are arranged such that, when one reel is empty, the other reel can immediately take over the supply to the machine. Each holder may be provided with a shaft carried in bearing housings at either end, each shaft carrying a pair of radial arms near its ends. Each arm has at its free end a core of which a first core is rotatable held at the end of a piston rod of an axial actuating cylinder. The second core is fixed on an axially adjustable shaft, the reel being secured between the cores.
