Abstract

A stranding machine having a stranding unit provided with a casing divided into an upper space 19 and a lower space 20, a hollow shaft 16 being located in the upper space 20 with bobbins 17 freely rotatably mounted thereon in pairs, means being provided for selectivity rotating each bobbin or for holding it stationary, a winding-off arm 18 being associated with each pair of bobbins 17 and rotatable with the shaft 16, each arm 18 being movable between a position in which it withdraws material from one bobbin 17 of the pair and a position in which it withdraws material from the other bobbin 17 and feeds the withdrawn material into the shaft 16 from where it passes via guide means to a stranding point, said lower space 20 being provided with means 27 for mounting charging bobbins containing strand material which is supplied to the bobbins 17 when they are empty, and the lower space 20 being connected by conveying means 10, 15, 36 with a storage means for storing the charging bobbins. <IMAGE>
