Abstract

947,276. Spectacle frame hinges. MARTIN WELLS PTY Ltd. Sept. 11, 1962 [Oct. 19, 1961], No. 34715/62. Heading G2J. A spectacle frame, see Fig. 4, has a hinge joint having two leaves 3 attached to a side arm 11 and end of the front of the frame 10 respectively, at least one leaf being attached to the frame by means of a plate 21, the leaf or the plate lying in an under-cut channel 14, the two being connected by clamping means, for example screws or rivets 24 so that they grip the flange 16 of the channel between them. The leaf and/or the plate may be of T-shaped cross-section and are spaced apart slightly when in position. Means, for example a bush, may be provided to engage holes in the channel and the hinge part in the channel to prevent the part sliding out of the channel. If the hinge leaf 113 is in the channel, (see Fig. 7), its lug(s) 124 project through hole(s) 123 in plate 122 which is (are) larger than the lug(s) so that by bending the lug(s) the angle between the side piece and the front part of the frame may be varied.
