Abstract
946,639. Gear pumps and motors. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. April 18, 1962 [April 20, 1961], No. 14993/62. Heading F1F. The shafts 6 and 7 of a reversible gear pump or motor are mounted at each end in bushes 8 which each have longitudinal slots 12, 13, extending through the radial thickness of the bushes, and four other slots 18, 20 which extend part way through the radial thickness of the bushes to form, with peripheral slots 60, resiliently hingeable portions such as 15, 16, 17. Pressure zones, such as 23, 24, defined by O-rings are formed on the portions such as 15, 16, 17 and each one communicates with the inlet or outlet on the opposite side of the pump or motor, so that the gears are urged to the high pressure side. Plugs 30, 35 are fitted in chambers in each side of the bushes, and urged against the casing walls by fluid pressure from the far side and near side respectively. The plugs 30 balance the movement on the bushes due to the difference between inlet and outlet pressure, and the plugs 35 are provided to prevent leakage. A pressure zone 53 is provided in the end face of each bush remote from the gears to urge the bushes against the gears; one of these zones is connected to the inlet or outlet passage 2 and the other to the passage 3. Alternatively, one or both bushes may have a zone connected by non-return valves to the inlet and outlet. The peripheral wall of the chamber is cut away at 61 and 62, where it surrounds the gears.
