Abstract
944,646. Stretching films. LINDAUER DORNIER G.m.b.H. Sept. 20, 1962 [Dec. 14, 1961], No. 35798/62. Heading B5B. [Also in Division D1] Thermoplastic films are stretched in a frame of the type having a dip chain path, in which the path carriers 1, 2 (Fig. 1) can be swung through an angle relative to one another at the point of transition between two successive zones of the stretching frame, and the angle of deflection formed thereby is subdivided by separate swingable transition guide rails 5, 6 mounted on the path carriers by bolts 9, 10 so that the degree of deflection of the individual transition guide rails adjacent to one another is controlled by the angular position of the path carriers and corresponds to a multi-stage subdivision of this angle. As shown, one of the two transition guide rails which abut against each other, 6, is extended beyond the point of abutment by an extension piece and is mounted so as to be rotatable and displaceable with the other path carrier 1 at a point 11 situated between the pivotal axis of the other transition guide rail 5 and the point of abutment, the two transition guide rails being loosely connected to one another at the point of abutment by spindles 7, 12. Thus, as shown, the extension piece of transition guide rail 6 runs below the other transition guide rail 6 and embraces a bolt 11 fixed in the other path carrier 1. In operation, the path carrier 2 is swung about the fixed spindle 7 (vide Fig. Ic). The transition guide rail 6 is thereby also swung through an angle, but owing to the way in which the rail is mounted at 11, the angle through which it swings is smaller than the angle through which the carrier 2 swings. Lateral movement of the spindle 12 on the guide rail 6 causes guide rail 5 also to be moved, thus resulting in a threestage sub-division of the total angle formed by the two path carriers 1 and 2 as shown in the broken line of Fig. 1c the first bend being at bolt 9, the second at bolt 12, and the third at pivot spindle 10. In a modification, Figs. 2, 3, the transition guide rails 5, 6 are not mounted on the path carriers themselves but on separate end pieces 1 and 2 of the path carrier, which embrace the spindle 7 at the point of abutment between the two path carriers and are therefore swingable about this spindle. The transition guide rails 5, 6 each have a semicircular portion 13, 14 which passes round the pivot spindle and engages in a corresponding recess in the fixed guide rails 3, 4. Rail 6 has an extension piece 6<SP>11</SP> running partly below rail 5 to bolt 11, which it embraces at 6<SP>111</SP>, and spindle 12 loosely connects rails 5 and 6, so that when rail 6 is swung through an angle it carries rail 5 with it. The lateral cheeks 3<SP>1</SP>, 4<SP>1</SP> of the fixed guide rails 3, 4 intermesh in the longitudinal direction with the cheeks 5<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>1</SP> of the transition guide rails at angles formed by the relative deflection, and the whole transition area between path carriers 1 and 2 is mounted on a transverse beam 15 on which the whole system can be moved in parallel or on which one path carrier may be swung about the spindle 7. Specification 941,358 is referred to.
