Abstract

A vehicle with conventional steering wheels is guided along a track by means of two or more detectors acting against side faces of a guide member and moved individually between the active and non-active positions. At each junction point there are two auxiliary guides parallel to the main guide member. The lateral clearance between each side face, of the main guide member and the respective auxiliary guide is the same as the width of the detector which bears against both of them. At the junction point one of the detectors is retracted by a neutralisation mechanism during the period when the other detector is in contact both with the main and auxiliary guide members.
