Abstract

943, 520. Finishing yarns; twisting. SOC. RHODIACETA. Dec. 21,1961 [Dec. 23, 1960], No. 45843/61. Headings DID and D1F. A process for imparting a false twist to a yarn comprises drawing the yarn over a surface 4 having a high coefficient of friction, and causing the yarn to have a sideways to-and-fro displacement on that surface, said displacement being due to the traverse of the yarn in a winding process. As shown the yarn is drawn over a heated plate 2, and thence over a synthetic rubber rod 4 to a grooved drum 5 that traverses the yarn on to a take-up support 6. The yarn may have a base of polyamides, polyesters, polyolefines, polyacrylonitrile, polyvinyl chloride or the like.
