Abstract

943,058. Book covers. CROFTON Ltd. Oct. 19, 1962 [Nov. 6, 1961], No. 39708/61. Heading B6E. A binder for a pattern or like book comprises separate top and bottom covers each consisting of an inner cardboard or like stiffener A enveloped in a sleeve B of polyvinyl chloride, the top cover also having a further upper layer G of transparent polyvinyl chloride, so that a letterpress or specimen pattern H inserted between the layers B, G can be seen. The top cover shown has a main cardboard stiffener A and a separate narrow cardboard stiffener at the binding edge C, and the sleeve B is opaque and heat-sealed along the outer edges F, J and a hinge-line E. The outer transparent layer G is also heat-sealed along the line E, the edge F, and the left hand edge J. An outer extension flap D, formed by heat-sealing the sleeve B, may be provided, but is not stiffened by cardboard. The bottom cover is similarly constructed, but without the layer G. The binder is for use with a stack of wallpaper patterns, and is detachably connected thereto in known manner. The hinge lines E facilitate the opening of the binder, and the flaps D are provided with snap fasteners to hold the binder closed.
