Abstract
943,003. Travelling wave tubes. TELEFUNKEN G.m.b.H. March 10, 1960 [March 12, 1959], No. 8470/60. Heading H1D. A travelling wave tube has means for producing an annular electron beam 2, two or two sets of electrodes 3, 4, within the beam for generating a spatially periodic electrostatic field and a helix 5 surrounding the beam for setting up a uniform electrostatic field for focusing the beam in conjunction with the spatially periodic field and carrying a travelling wave. The spatially periodic field means comprises a bifilar helix 3, 4, or two sets of conducting rings, the helices or sets carrying different D.C. potentials. The three helices are supported by ceramic rods or glass tubes.
