Abstract
942,261. Absorbing gases. METALLGESELLSCHAFT A.G. April 22, 1960 [May 2, 1959], No. 14299/60. Heading B1L. An apparatus for the continuous absorption of a component of a gas mixture and its desorption comprises two chambers 3 and 4 separated by gas-tight partition wall 2. Pipes 5 and 6 connect the chambers with inlets and outlets of absorbers 7 and flanged inlet 9 and outlet 11 are provided for the gas under treatment. Steam for desorption is connected with flange 28 and leaves apparatus at lower hollow end of shaft 12. To switch from absorption to desorption and vice versa shaft 12 is lifted and spring loaded flanges 21, 22, 23 and 24 are moved to the pipe ends which communicate with the next absorber. These operational steps may occur at timed intervals or by a control from a concentration meter at the end of a rotatable swivel arm which samples from the next absorber due for steam. Modified apparatus with liquid seals or connections disposed on the periphery of a cylinder are described in Figs. 2-6 (not shown).
