Abstract

941,846. Cable and wire couplings. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd. Aug. 20, 1962 [Aug. 18, 1961], No. 29972/61. Heading H2E. A clip for connecting a tapping conductor to a main conductor comprises a substantially U- shaped member 1 adapted to receive between its limbs 3 a main conductor 20 with a bridgepiece 12 spanning the gap between and detachably secured to its limbs 3, a second substantially U-shaped member 6 and means for forcing the extremities of the limbs 8 of member 6 into engagement with a branch conductor 26 clamping it against main conductor 20. The means as described may comprise a screw 16 passing through clearance hole 9 in member 6 and screwing into tapped. hole 14 in bridgepiece 12 as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, or it may comprise a threaded stud on bridge-piece 12. A thin-walled copper sleeve 24 may be slipped over the end of branch conductor 26. The bridge-piece 12 may be arranged above the member 6 and carry a screw or threaded stud by which the member 6 can be pressed on to the conductors.
