Abstract

Detergent tablets comprise (a) a preformed alkaline earth metal, magnesium, zinc or aluminium salt of a C14-18-alkyl benzene sulphonic acid, (b) a performed soluble soap derived from a fat composition containing 20-40% by weight of a vegetable coconut-type oil in which 50% by weight of the fatty acids present have 12 and 14 carbon atoms, and (c) C12-18-saturated fatty acid, the weight ratio of (a):(b) being 4 : 1 to 1 : 4, and (c) comprising 1-10% by weight of the total composition. (a) is preferably the calcium or magnesium salt of hexadecylbenzene sulphonic acid while soap (b) is suitably the sodium soap derived from a 30% coconut oil/70% tallow mixture; fatty acid (c) is preferably lauric acid. According to the Provisional Specification, perfume, colour, opacifying agents and superfatting agents may also be present.
