Abstract

941,794. Locks. A. BINA. Dec. 14, 1960 [Dec. 18, 1959], No. 43108/60. Heading E2A. A lock comprises a fixed barrel 4 within which cylinders 11, 12 are locked against movement by pin tumbler mechanisms operating in holes 6, 7, 8 and 9 in the barrel, in holes 13 in cylinder 11 and in holes 14 and 15 in cylinder 12. To operate the lock a key is inserted through opening 10 into the cylinder 11 which may then be turned through 90 degrees to align the key with a slot in cylinder 12. The key is pushed into this slot whereby the cylinder 11 is locked against movement by the pins connecting holes 13 with holes 7 and the cylinder 12 is unlocked and may be turned by the key to operate the member 2 via rod 3 and so operate the bolt. More than two rotating cylinders may be incorporated in the lock and each cylinder has pin tumbler mechanisms arranged to be operated in the same way as the pin tumbler mechanisms of the preceding cylinder together with an additional pin tumbler mechanism.
