In packing pastry in the form of rolls, a strip of pastry A, Figs. 1 and 2, is laid on a larger rectangular or T-shaped strip of paper B, e.g. impregnated or coated with paraffin, wax, and rolled, with the paper outermost, to form a roll. A rectangular strip of paper may be as wide as the strip of pastry, but longer so that, before rolling is started, the paper can be folded over the transverse edge of the pastry, which will lie substantially along the axis of the roll, to facilitate tight rolling and, when rolling is completed, sufficient paper is left to overlap and cover the outer transverse edge of the pastry. When the strip of paper is T-shaped, its side wings B<SP>1</SP> can be folded over the ends of the roll and secured, as by gumming.
