Abstract

328,491. H³mmer, H. Jan. 28, 1929. [Convention date]. Paper bags.-In a diamond shaped paper bag, the strips at the edges of the paper blank are glued together to form a handling strip b, Fig. 1, and the strip is folded about its inner edge c before being superposed upon a fold a opposite to it. Folds f, g are then made longitudinally in the middle of the bag walls between the folds a, c so that when the handling strip b is lifted, the bag opens automatically. The bag may be stored with the folds f, g superposed and the handling strip b enclosed between them. In a modification, the edge strip d., Fig. 2, is folded inwards upon the bag wall and the free edge of the other edge strip is placed on the folded edge, the strips being then glued together and the handling strip folded as above. By this arrangement the handling strip comprises three thicknesses.
