343,402. Tobacco boxes. AMERICAN TOBACCO CO., 111, 5th Avenue, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Hermani, H.; Boston Street, Baltimore, U.S.A.) May 17, 1930, No. 15222. Convention date, Aug. 8, 1929. [Class 18.] A telescopically collapsable tobacco box comprising a section 3 slidable into a section 1 has, on the opposite sides of the lapping ends of both sections, interengaging ribs 7 which are parallel to the lapping edges and serve to hold the box fully extended. These ribs do not extend beyond the plane faces of the box. The extent to which the section 3 can be pushed into the section 1 is limited by a bead 6 which also forms a seating for the lid when closed. The edge 10 on the lower section is preferably turned in so as to engage closely the upper section. A covering of waterproof paper or other material is wrapped round the tobacco before it is inserted in the box, which latter is of sheet metal or the like.
