940,469. Fluid-pressure servomotor control systems. GES FUR LINDE'S EISMASCHINEN A. G. June 28, 1962 [June 30, 1961], No. 24820/62. Heading G3P. A relief valve for relieving pressure between two flow passages, either of which may be the high pressure passage, such as in a hydraulic transmission, comprises a spool valve member 14 loaded to a closed position by spring 12 and movable to connect chambers 1 and 2 having passages 22 and 23 connected to the flow passages. Passages 3, 4 in the spool lead from the chambers 1, 2, in the closed position of the valve, to ball relief valves 5 loaded by a common spring 7. The relief sides of the valves lead to a chamber formed by one end of the spool and a plug 24 such that when the pressure in the high pressure line exceeds a predetermined value, the fluid pressure opens the respective relief valve 5 and acts on the spool to connect chambers 1 and 2. The chambers at either end of the spool may lead through restrictors 10, 11 to a chamber 18 connected to the low pressure line or exhaust. The spool may be moved manually by rotation of a handle 25 which rotates a plunger 28 carrying a pin 27 engaging a helical groove 29 whereby the plunger waves axially to open the spool valve.
