Abstract

940,114. Container closures. ANCHOR GLASS CO. Ltd. Sept. 25, 1961 [May 23, 1960 ; June 23, 1960], No. 18133/60. Heading B8T. A container closure comprises a spigot-like portion 1 connected to a flat base 6 by a weakened region 3 breakable by a transverse thrust applied by the thumb of a hand holding the bottle and a main body 2 with an annular ridge 8 and a skirt 4 adapted to grip a beaded vial neck. The position of the weakened region may be higher up the spigot. There may be two ridges 8 to grip a suitably shaped vial. The spigot 1 may be tapered to reseal the hole after being broken off and the hole fitted with a rubber collar to aid sealing. The spigot may also have an inturned flange adapted to snap over a rib on the main body 2.
