Abstract

938,503. Electromagnetic switches; pneumatic operation of switches. W. A. ETTER March 21, 1960, No. 9990/60. Class 38 (5). [Also in Groups XXXIX and XL (c)] A switch comprises a short length of rigid coaxial cable 22, the inner conductor of which has a gap 17a, 17b adapted to be bridged by a bar 18 when a solenoid 20 is operated. A number of switches are combined to form a matrix (see Group XXXIX) for connecting a selected radio transmitter or receiver to a selected antenna (see Group XL (c)). In an alternative form the bridging bar 18 is normally held clear of the conductors 17a, 17b by the operated solenoid and is spring-urged into contact when the solenoid is de-energized. The switch may be operated pneumatically.
