937,818. Gripping filamentary material. BRITISH NYLON SPINNERS Ltd. Jan. 17, 1962 [Feb. 9, 1961], No. 4840/61. Class 45. [Also in Groups XIX and XXV] Apparatus for gripping rope, tow, sliver, yarn and like filamentary material comprises a pair of eccentrically mounted jaws, preferably in the form of a split bollard 3, 5 for clamping the filamentary material therebetween and further means, e.g. a vice 7 operated by an eccentric 9, for securing the filamentary material on the side of the jaws remote from the load applied to the material. A method of threading'the jaws is shown in Fig. 4, in which the filamentary material passes firstly between the jaws and then one and a half turns about the bollard. Specification 866,683 is referred to.
