Abstract
937,452. Aerials. SUMITOMO ELECTRIC INDUSTRIES Ltd. Oct. 23, 1959 [Jan. 22, 1959], No. 36053/59. Class 40 (7). An aerial arrangement comprises a sheet conductor 1 of finite area and an excitation element 2 directly connected to the sheet at one end 3 and spaced from it at a distance which does not exceed half the length of the element Energy is supplied by a current source directly connected between the element and conductor, for example by feeder 4. A movable shorting bar 5 may be provided to act as a matching transformer. Two or more elements may be associated with a single sheet conductor. Fig. 6 shows two elements on a single conductor of cylindrical form. As well as stacking elements along the length of a cylinder they may also be arranged round it at angular separations of 180 or 120 degrees. The sheet may have any of a wide variety of shapes and the element or elements may have any desirable cross-section or be formed by a plurality of conductors to increase the bandwidth.
