Abstract

1,233,952. Mass spectrometers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 27 Sept., 1968 [11 Oct , 1967], No. 46114/68. Heading H1D. In a monopole mass spectrometer the r.f. rod electrode 8 and the V-shaped shield electrode 9 are supported in parallel, spaced relation between a rigid end plate 15 and a spring end plate 24, the electrode 8 being insulatedly mounted by ceramic balls 23, 28. If the rod electrode is of a conductively coated insulating material the balls 23, 28 need not be of insulating material. The electrode structure is supported at the spring plate end by a plurality of set screws 44. The shield electrode 9 may be fixed to the end plates by screws 19, 25 or by welding.
