Abstract

1404386 Mass spectrometers UNISEARCH Ltd 25 June 1973 [28 June 1972] 30076/73 Heading H1D A monopole mass spectrometer comprises a circular cylindrical electrode structure 1 mounted coaxially within a hollow square tubular electrode 2. The electrode structure 1 can be divided into two, three or four independent electrode segments by insulating material which may or may not extend to the square electrode 2. Particle beams 6, 7, 8, 9 pass along the spaces at the corners of the square electrode to collectors 10,11,12, 13 which can be connected together as shown or operated independently. Any number of the mass spectrometers can be assembled in parallel to provide increased sensitivity.
