Abstract

936,780. Archers' bows. J. F. LIGHTCAP. Dec. 2, 1961, No. 43169/61. Class 132 (3). An archer's bow is formed of an inorganic honeycomb member 15 sandwiched between a layer 21 of high compressive strength secured to its face and a layer 20 of high tensile strength material secured to its back. The honeycomb member 15 may be of aluminium having polygonal or circular openings in its core. The backing and facing layers 20, 21 may be of fibre glass. Strips 16, 17 of scrim cloth may be provided between the honeycomb member 15 and the layers 20, 21. A pair of side members, Fig. 3 (not shown), may be provided to give a finished appearance to the bow or alternatively the bow sides can be filled with an adhesive or synthetic plastic material. The honeycomb member 15 may extend from tip-to-tip of the bow or alternatively be fabricated with the handle portion 22 so as to extend from each end thereof.
