Abstract
Skis are manufactured by assembling sections, made from polyester or epoxy resin reinforced with inorganic fibres, round a core and wrapping a thin layer of resin-impregnated fibre round the assembly after which the ski is cured (see Groups V and XV). The material of the sections is preferably such that the resin bonded laminate comprises approximately 40 to 60 per cent fibre and has a minimum tensile strength of approximately 40,000 lb. per square inch. The fibres are preferably glass but may be other inorganic fibres, e.g. asbestos.
