Abstract

936,687. Roof drainage. J. S. NEWMAN. April 24, 1961, No. 14795/61. Class 33. A roof drain structure comprises a cupshaped integral drain body 10, with an outlet fitting 11 at the lower end and an outwardlyflaring lip 12 at the upper end; at least one stepped ledge portion near the lip 12 around the body 10, supporting a strainer 28 registering with the fitting 11, of stepped-dome formation and of reduced diameter, even at its maximum, in relation to the body 10, to form a space therebetween; and sealing means associated with the body 10 to secure it in position in a roof. The sealing means comprises a clamp ring 15 as shown, which overlies the lip 12, a roof covering 27 being therebetween. A gravel stop ring 22 is made integral with the ring 15 to restrain entry of e.g. gravel into the body 10, detachable clamp members 16 interengaging the body 10 and ring 22 to draw the latter towards the lip 12. Around the lower end of the strainer 28 is a perforated flange 31, acting as a filter, which is maintained just clear of the body 10, the latter having a pressure ring 24 bolted to it, which with the lip 12 encloses a portion of the roof decking 26.
