Abstract

1456570 Water trap for breathing apparatus F M BIRD 20 Aug 1974 [27 Aug 1973] 36583/74 Heading A5T [Also in Divisions F2 and F4] A water trap assembly for collecting a liquid which has precipitated in a conduit of a breathing system comprises a receptacle 11, a combined cover assembly and coupling 12 having a T-shaped coupling and a cover 21, and a valve having a valve member 52 and a valve seat 51 formed at the junction between portions 32 and 34 of the flow passage into the receptacle, whereby with the receptacle 11 disengaged from the cover 21 outflow of gas and liquid from the conduit (not shown) is prevented by the valve member 52 being biassed into engagement with seat 51 by a spring, and when the receptacle is connected to the cover 21 a planar lower surface of the stem of the valve member 52 engages the bottom of receptacle 11 to open the valve and allow liquid to drain into receptacle 11.
