Abstract

936,145. Remountable partitioning; glazing. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Feb. 2, 1960 [Jan. 9, 1959], No. 875/59. Classes 20 (3) and 20 (4). [Also in Group XXXVI] Wall and glazing panels of demountable partitioning are supported between stanchions 1, Fig. 3, which are provided with panel grips, each grip comprising a plurality of strips 48 interlocking along their edges to form a jacket around the stanchion and having radial wings extending outwardly therefrom which wings provide, therebetween, grooves for the reception of panels 10 or panel supporting members. Glazing 18 may be secured to the panel grips by interlocking strips 41, 46 which can also serve to connect glazing to the edges of apertures in panels, Fig. 11, for receiving the thrust plates of screw jacks 52 applied between the panels 10 and the floor and ceiling, for carrying cornice and skirting strip 57, and for forming butt joins between panels, Fig. 8 (not shown). The stanchions 1 are extensible for engaging the floor and ceiling and as shown in one embodiment, Fig. 1, may be received at each end by strips 35 which also receive the upper and lower ends of the partition panelling and which constitute cornice and skirting mouldings 37 having channels 38 for services such as electric wiring. Strips 28, Fig. 6, are provided to form door edges on door panels 27 and strips 24 are provided to form door jambs and lintels around door apertures formed in the partitioning. The various strip components may be made from P.V.C.
