Abstract
935,517. Liquid pressure motors. OILGEAR CO. March 29, 1961 [May 5, 1960], No. 11430/61. Class 69 (2). In a revolving cylinder liquid pressure motor having a valve seat arranged upon the cylinder barrel, a flat valve engaging the seat, which valve is provided with high and low pressure ports, hold-up motors under the valve ports for holding the valve on the valve seat and auxiliary hold-up motors under bridges between the valve ports, the bridges have recesses connecting with passages to the auxiliary hold-up motors so that the cylinder ports and the recesses cooperate simultaneously to connect the auxiliary hold-up motors alternately with the high and low pressure valve ports. The motor has an odd number N of cylinders, such that N+1 / 2 is an even number, and they may be axially or radially arranged. Hold-up motors 42, 43 comprise spring-loaded hollow pistons, through which pressure liquid flows, and are always connected to their respective ports. They provide a force equal and opposite to the separating force between the valve and valve seat when N - 1 /2 cylinder ports register with the supply port of the valve. The auxiliary holdup motors provide the additional force required when N+1 / 2 cylinder ports register therewith. The valve ports 31, 32 have extensions 31a, 31b and 32a, 32b, respectively, whose adjacent ends are spaced apart by a distance slightly greater than the diameter of a cylinder port. Timing slots 53, 54 are connected to the auxiliary hold-up motors by drilled passages and are of such length that only one cylinder port at a time can register therewith. In Fig. 2, a slight clockwise rotation of the cylinder block will connect timing slot 53 with extension 31a via cylinder port 29a and slot 54 with extension 31b via cylinder port 29d thereby energizing the auxiliary hold-up motors at the pressure in the port 31. Further rotation will connect the timing slots with the extensions 32a, 32b of the discharge port, thereby de-energizing the motors.
