[Also in Group XXV] A portable sewing machine comprises a main bed 19, a standard 17 rising from the main bed, and a cantilever cylinder bed 21 extending only from a front portion of the main bed. An arm 29 extending from the rear portion of the main bed and provided with a supporting foot 31, is spaced from the cylinder bed 21 by a gap 44 which may be filled by a combination attachment and accessory box 61 to convert the machine into a flat bed sewing machine. The main bed is provided with supporting feet 46. The attachment 61 has a leading portion 62 which rests on a recessed portion 37 of the main bed, a box-like mid-portion which comprises three compartments 67, 68, 69 and a hinged lid 63 and which supports pins 81, 82 which enter respective holes 41, 42 formed in the main bed, a portion 64 including a vertical wall 77 which abuts the free end 25 of the cylinder bed and supports a pin 86 which enters a hole 26 in end 25, and a rear hinged portion 66. Pin 82 carries a spring 88 which is compressed when pin 82 enters hole 42 and a notch 89 formed therein is engaged by the nose 91 of a pivoted, spring- biased latch 92. A press-button 96 projection through bed 19 and pivoted to latch 92 serves to release the latter.
