934,959. Supplying liquid fuel to burners. FAIREY AVIATION Ltd. Jan. 13, 1961 [Jan. 15, 1960], No. 1611/60. Class 75 (1). [Also in Group XXVI] A fuel supply system for the burner of a jet unit disposed in a helicopter blade at a distance from the hub includes a valve 14 situated adjacent to the burner and means for controlling the valve by a variable air pressure transmitted from the hub. The valve is also controlled by the fuel pressure at the burner or by the rate of fuel flow and by the pressure in the combustion chamber 20. The valve is connected to a small diaphragm 16 and to a large diaphragm 18, the small diaphragm 16 separating the fuel on the downstream side of the valve from an air pressure chamber 17 and the large diaphragm 18 separating the air pressure chamber 17 from a chamber 19 communicating with the combustion chamber 20. The air pressure chamber 17 is connected by a duct 25 to a space 26 containing a piston valve 28 adapted to connect the space either to a vent pipe 30 or to a pipe 29 leading to a pressure air duct 13 supplying combustion air. The piston valve is moved by a diaphragm 31 exposed on one side to the air pressure in the space 26 and on the other side to the fuel pressure in the hub. The hub fuel pressure is controlled by a manually operated cam 38 acting on the spring 37 of a pressure-reducing valve 35.
