Abstract

934,725. Printing master sheets. W. RITZERFELD, and G. RITZERFELD. April 19, 1961 [April 29, 1960], No. 14119/61. Class 98 (2). A sheet with a light-sensitized gelatin containing surface is exposed and harden-developed to create an image in unhardened gelatin representing the image to be printed, positioned into the fold of a folded transfer sheet and moved therewith through a pair of pressing and/or heating rollers with guidance so that contact apart from that at the fold takes place shortly before or at the bight of the rollers only. The exposed sheet may then be replaced by a printing master sheet blank with similar positioning and movement, and with use of a hectographic ink sheet as the folded transfer sheet, the unhardened image is transferred thereto in the first movement and re-transferred together with adhering ink in the second, resulting in a printing sheet having a registered relationship to the original used in exposure. As shown, the light-sensitive sheet is exposed through a negative to a lamp 42, developed by passing through a developing bath 5, moved along a guide plate 12 where it meets and engages in the turned down end of a transfer sheet and both sheets pass between a heated roll 22 and a pressure roll 21. The transfer sheet is then placed on a guide 10 with the fold facing upwardly and a printing master 37 is engaged in the fold. Both sheets now pass through rolls 19, 20 and are directed away from the rolls by a movable guide 38.
