Abstract
933,637. Travelling-wave tubes. M-O VALVE CO. Ltd. Dec. 15, 1961 [Dec. 15, 1960], No. 43208/60. Class 39 (1). The periodic magnetic focusing system of a travelling-wave tube includes blocks 19 of permanently magnetized material disposed between the plates 14 projecting on either side of the rectangular waveguides 11, 18. The plates 14 and the further plates 3 form polepieces for the array of permanent magnets 1. End magnets are shown at 20. The system is mounted on a support tube 5 which has a central portion 6 of fibrous glass and metal end portions 7, 8. The complete assembly is mounted in an aluminium framework 26 which includes end blocks 32, 42 containing recesses into which the relevant magnetized blocks 19 and plates 14 fit. Adjustable holders for the discharge tube are shown at 47 and 53, the holder 47 including spring fingers 52.
